Contemporary Folk | Armenia
Tarup is an Armenian revival quartet re-imagining old folk to give light on new folk. Created in 2013, the Tarup Quartet has started the contemporary folk movement in Armenia.
Combining the mesmerizing sounds of the tar with the soft breeze of the blul, two Armenian traditional instruments, with a bold association of jazz keyboard and percussions, the Tarup quartet is full of highly crafted harmonies, modern improvisations and distinctive acoustic sound.
